HDR|SRBA has served as the General Planning Consultant for METRO, the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (Texas) since 1998. HDR|SRBA managed the development of a long-range, multimodal transit plan for the Houston metropolitan area.

The METRO Solutions Plan includes doubling the bus service and more than 70 miles of new light rail and commuter rail transit service. As a part of developing the METRO Solutions Plan, HDR|SRBA managed the preparation of 10 concurrent corridor studies, including three FTA-sponsored multimodal Alternatives Analysis/Environmental Impact Statements. The METRO Solutions Plan was the subject of a successful regional referendum in November 2003.

Currently, we are assisting METRO in the implementation of the METRO Solutions Plan. HDR|SRBA staff played a key role in obtaining FTA approval for two corridors to enter Preliminary Engineering concurrently, a first for FTA-funded projects.
