(OMAHA, Neb. - February 4, 2008) - HDR, a leading architecture-engineering-consulting firm, has acquired engineering firm Doherty & Associates, Inc., based in Boise, Idaho. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Going forward, Doherty & Associates, Inc. will conduct business as HDR|Doherty & Associates.
Founded as a sole proprietorship in 1998, Doherty & Associates has become a successful Idaho corporation with professionals focused on personalized service for public- and private-sector clients. The firm specializes in transportation engineering, including preliminary and final design, planning, project management, public involvement and construction observation services.
"HDR is very pleased that the Doherty & Associates team decided to join us," said HDR Engineering, Inc. President George Little, P.E. "They have developed great client relationships and operate from a solid set of values, and will help us significantly expand our transportation operations in Idaho."
"Joining HDR was the right move for us," said Doherty & Associates President Karen Doherty, P.E. "While I'm proud of the progress we have made as a specialized firm, we can do a lot more as part of HDR. My primary concerns taking this step were that client satisfaction would continue to be a priority and that our employees would have growth opportunities. HDR is the right fit on both counts."
Under the new corporate structure, Doherty will be the design center manager for many of HDR’s transportation projects in the company’s Western region.
HDR is an employee-owned architectural, engineering and consulting firm with more than 6,600 professionals in more than 150 locations worldwide.
