HDR Joins EPA Green Power Partnership

(OMAHA, Neb. - April 22, 2009) - The United States Environmental Protection Agency has named HDR a Green Power Partner. The Green Power Partnership is a voluntary program that supports organizational procurement of green power by offering expert advice, technical support, tools and resources.

HDR was named a Green Power Partner because of its agreement with the Omaha Public Power District to purchase renewable energy. In 2009, the amount purchased was 5.1 million kilowatt-hours, enough to power the headquarters campus for a full year. The energy is produced at OPPD's Elk City landfill gas generation facility in Douglas County, Neb.

"Since HDR helps clients provide energy solutions ranging from building-scale solutions to those impacting entire communities, it is important that we lead by example and reduce our own environmental footprint," said Michaella Wittmann, HDR's national director of sustainable solutions.

HDR's sustainability goals are guided by the following principles:

1. Create technically credible and positive environmental benefits to the communities where employee-owners work, live, and play
2. Reduce fossil-fuel use, water consumption, and waste generation
3. Spend efficiently on behalf of employee-owners
4. Partner with clients and provide professional opportunities for technical staff
5. Improve HDR operations and efficiency

HDR is an employee-owned architectural, engineering and consulting firm with more than 7,700 professionals in more than 165 locations worldwide. All of them are committed to helping clients manage complex projects and make sound decisions. HDR is ranked No. 13 in the Engineering News-Record Top 500 Design Firms for 2009.
