"Powering the Plant"

Water and Wastes Digest, November 10, 2014

The article features the Village of Ridgewood Biogas-Renewable Energy Project in Ridgewood, New Jersey, which recently received the Biogas Project of the Year award from the American Biogas Council. HDR designed the plant, which is operated by Natural Systems Utilities.

The Ridgewood project won Biogas Project of the Year for its unique characteristics as the only municipality biogas system that was 100 percent privately financed and fully self-sufficient in its energy supply. Renewable energy is produced onsite by an anaerobic digestion process that captures methane, which is then converted to power. The project lowers the village's carbon footprint and converts wastes to valuable resources for local use.
