Flood Mitigation for USACE and KC's Blue River Featured in The Military Engineer
The Blue River Channel Modification Project is one of the first examples of design build for civil works by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Tim Fobes, project manager and environmental scientist in HDR's Kansas City office, was one of the authors featured in the July-August issue of The Military Engineer. The project was a joint effort among the USACE, Kansas City District, and the City of Kansas City, Mo., to provide flood mitigation on the Blue River in Kansas City. Green solutions for fish and wildlife habitat and stormwater management were integrated into the flood mitigation design and construction.
HDR was the design consultant with ESI Contracting Corporation for this project.
