Galveston Fire Station #4 is a Finalist in Architizer A+ Awards
(March 10, 2014) - Galveston Fire Station #4, designed by HDR, is a finalist in Architizer's 2nd Annual A+ Awards, honoring the Best Architecture, Spaces, and Products. Competing in the "Institutional/Government" category, HDR is going head-to-head with international design boutique firms including Rojkind Arquitectos, Skylab Architecture, and iredale pederson hook.
Finalists in the Architizer A+ Awards compete for two prizes: the Judges' Choice, awarded by a large panel of judges, and the People's Choice, awarded based on public voting.
Last year, the inaugural year for the A+ Awards, Architizer received over 1,500 entries from more than 100 countries. Designed to break architecture out of the echo chamber, the A+ Awards' global audience exceeded 80,000,000 viewers, including 200,000 public votes. The diverse jury comprises not only architects (e.g. Denise Scott Brown, Charles Renfro, Bjarke Ingels), but other business and cultural luminaries who commission and support great architecture (e.g. developer Ian Schrager, Charles Adler of Kickstarter, Barry Bergdoll of MoMA).
