HDR's Guletsky and Essex Co-author Article in Power Engineering Magazine
(March 28, 2014) - Peter Guletsky and Ryan Essex's article, "History & Challenges of a Successful NOx Reduction Project," is featured in the March issue of Power Engineering magazine. Guletsky and Essex teamed up with Wisconsin Power & Light (Alliant Energy) to write the article, which is based on the Edgewater Generating Station Unit 5 Selective Catalytic Reduction retrofit project. The SCR retrofit project, which recently completed installation and startup, was required to comply with evolving NOx emissions regulations.
The article is designed as a "lessons learned" and "best practices" reference to guide others in the power generation industry in achieving NOx emission compliance through an SCR retrofit at their station.
The Edgewater SCR retrofit project is already being recognized for its contributions to power. It was selected as a finalist for the Platt Global Energy Awards Engineering Project of the Year, an honor given for going beyond the status quo in the name of energy leadership, innovation and performance.
