Galveston Fire Station #4 Featured on Cover of Architectural Record

(March 4, 2015) -We're thrilled that our small project with the big impact recently made another huge splash by landing on the cover of the March issue of Architectural Record magazine, a first for us in this prestigious publication! Lighting up the cover with its distinctive neon green accents, the HDR-designed Galveston Fire Station #4 is featured in an in-depth spread the magazine devoted to the distinctive design and dynamics of this hybrid fire and rescue station and other innovative civic jewels across the continent.

Not your typical fire station, the two-story Station #4 is situated on the Galveston, Texas coast and serves as a sentinel for the hurricane-prone area. Built to withstand winds of up 125 mph and 20-foot storm surges, it's nearly immovable, but also flexible enough to adapt to many types of catastrophic events. Designed to be a home for firefighters who live within it for long stretches of time, it's an iconic structure in its coastal community. The building's transparent design, stunning interior finishes and unusual backstory serve as an architectural inspiration for communities everywhere.
