Steven Janeway Joins HDR Architecture as the Regional Design Principal for the South Region

(October 31, 2011) - Steven Janeway, AIA, LEED AP, has joined HDR Architecture, Inc. as the regional design principal for the South region. Located in the Dallas office of HDR, Janeway will enhance HDR's design production and recognition, and further the firm's dedication to design excellence throughout HDR's Southern architectural offices.

Janeway joins HDR with 28 years of design experience, most recently as the director of design with HOK's Dallas office. As a self-described "multi-specialist," his experience spans all forms of the built environment, specifically large urban projects and urban design master plans, complex multiuse buildings, high-rise towers, and advanced building sustainability programs. Notable projects include the award-winning Samsung Research and Development Center and its Global Engineering Center Headquarters in Seoul, South Korea; the Cedar Valley College, Science and Veterinary Technology Building in Lancaster, Texas; and the Omni Convention Hotel and the new Tarrant County Civil Courts Building, both in Fort Worth, Texas.

Brian Kowalchuk, director of design for HDR Architecture, noted that finding a skilled designer with Steven's extensive portfolio and laid-back demeanor is rare.  "Steven is a gifted designer who listens; dovetailing well with the HDR's design philosophy to distill complex building types to create elegant architecture."

In his new position, Janeway hopes to "invigorate HDR's brand as a top-tier design house known for intelligent, remarkably executed design work." He also looks forward to embracing HDR's modernist heritage and roots as an engineering company, while also pushing the firm to new heights in its creative endeavors.

Janeway holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Tennessee School of Architecture as well as certificates from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design - Executive Education Program.
