HDR's Ferguson Set to Take Reins as USSD President

(August 19, 2013) - HDR Dam Practice lead Keith Ferguson will become the next president of the United States Society on Dams.

Ferguson assumed his position at the conclusion of the recent 81st International Commission for Large Dams annual symposium.

"It's quite an honor and I'm very excited about this position," Ferguson said. "It's an important time for dams and levees in the United States. There are significant infrastructure safety concerns, needs for new projects, and demands for more research and training/education programs. All of those things are coming into focus."

Ferguson was elected to the USSD Board of Directors five years ago and was recently elected by the organization's Board of Directors to serve as president through April 2015.

He has more than 35 years of industry experience and has been with HDR for over three years. Ferguson is a registered, professional engineer in 17 states.

Another HDR professional - Water & Natural Resources Southeast Regional manager Alex Grenoble of Charlotte, N.C. - also is a member of the USSD Board of Directors. Ferguson said Grenoble began the first year of his up to six-year term in February.
