HDR Sustainability + Corporate Responsibility Report Meets GRI Application Level B Requirements
(September 6, 2013) - HDR, Inc.'s 2012 Sustainability + Corporate Responsibility Report, released in November 2012, has been reviewed and certified as meeting the requirements for Application Level B of the internationally respected Global Reporting Initiative's (GRI) Reporting Framework. HDR is one of only a handful of global A/E/C firms to have a report reviewed according to these strict guidelines.
HDR's previous two reports have followed the GRI Reporting Framework, but this is the first time the HDR report was reviewed and checked by the organization's Report Services. The GRI Reporting Framework is a generally accepted guide for reporting on an organization's economic, environmental and social performance and consists of principles for defining report content and ensuring the quality of reported information. Sustainability reports based on the GRI Reporting Framework disclose outcomes and results that occurred in the context of the organization's commitments, strategy and management approach.
GRI Report Services concluded that HDR's report fulfills the requirements of Application Level B, which is intended for companies like HDR that have policies in place for their sustainability performance.
HDR's 2012 Sustainability + Corporate Responsibility report details the firm's commitment to environmental, social and economic impacts by examining internal operations and project work according to five key benefits: Improve Lives, Build Vibrant Communities, Fulfill a Global Vision, Safeguard our Natural Resources and Create Value. HDR also unveiled its first carbon footprint reduction goal in the report, setting a target to reduce GHG emission levels 20 percent by 2020 from a 2011 baseline, adjusted for growth.
