Olson Named Top 40 Under 40 Winner by Mass Transit Magazine

(September 24, 2013) - Luke Olson, HDR's Central Region streetcar director, has been named one of Mass Transit magazine's Top 40 Under 40 transit professionals.

The magazine recently announced its fifth annual Top 40 Under 40 list, honoring professionals who have made significant contributions to the public transit industry. Honorees were nominated by their peers and judged on criteria that included job commitment, industry involvement and contribution, achievement in his or her position and innovation in his or her field.

The winners are showcased in the September/October cover feature of Mass Transit magazine. Olson's profile, along with the other winners, is posted on its website.

Olson has a wide range of rail transit project design and management experience, including conceptual planning, final design and construction. He is HDR's design manager for the Dallas Streetcar Design-Build Project and project manager on the Kansas City Downtown Streetcar, St. Paul Streetcar and Milwaukee Streetcar projects. Olson is leading or supporting engineering efforts on projects in Tacoma, Salt Lake City and other locations.

Active on committees for trade and advocacy organizations, Olson is frequently invited to participate as a speaker at conferences held by organizations that include the Transportation Research Board, Rail~Volution and American Public Transportation Association. He was also a member of the American Road & Transportation Builders Association's 2013 Young Executive Development Program, held in Washington, D.C.
