New Munich Office to Support Science + Research
(April 11, 2014) - HDR TMK, the hub for HDR's healthcare and science + technology design programs in Europe, has opened an office in Munich, Bavaria. The office is HDR TMK's seventh office in Germany. Urs Klipfel, who recently joined HDR TMK as a Science + Technology principal, will lead the office.
"Many of our country's top universities and scientific research institutions are located in Munich," says Guido Messthaler, managing director of HDR TMK. "We want to be there to help our clients in Munich achieve their science, research and academic objectives."
Urs Klipfel will be managing the day-to-day operations of the office as well as leading HDR TMK's science + technology and design efforts in Munich. Prior to joining HDR TMK, he managed real estate development at the Helmholtz Center Munich—a research center focused on common diseases in interaction of lifestyle, environmental factors and personal genetic background—where he led the development of a number of research buildings. With almost 20 years of experience, Klipfel is respected in the industry for his expertise designing and planning complex research facilities. He is at the forefront of design that enhances knowledge transfer, helps to attract and retain top-tier talent, and enables scientific discovery and advancements.
"I am thrilled to be leading the Munich office for a firm that I hold in such high regard," noted Klipfel. "HDR TMK was hired to design the Center of Integrated Diabetes Research at the Helmholtz Diabetes Center (HDC) last year, and through that engagement, it became evident that HDR TMK is different than typical design firms. The firm is knowledge-based and very specialized, which puts us in a position to partner with clients in Munich as the city continues evolving into a knowledge-based economy and science destination."
