Kaia Nesbitt Joins HDR’s Denver Office as Site Design Principal

(September 4, 2014) - HDR is pleased to announce that Kaia Nesbitt, RLA, has joined the Denver office as Site Design Principal. In her new role she will provide leadership in building the firm's architectural presence and site design practice in Denver, the Front Range and the entire Central Region.

"Kaia has been a leader in the Denver design, planning and business community for years.  I've always respected her drive and ability to connect with clients and partners," says Jason Uyeda, managing principal. "I'm really looking forward to tapping her business development skills and strategic mindset to grow our site design and planning practice in a client-focused approach—within a broad geographic region," he adds.

Kaia joins the firm with more than 15 years of experience in landscape architecture and practice building, ranging from designing to managing programs and projects, to urban and regional planning. An award-winning expert in her field, Kaia is the recipient of three CCASLA (California Council of the American Society of Landscape Architects) awards: the 2013 Honor Award for Design, the 2012 Merit Award for Research and Communication and the 2008 President's Award for Planning & Urban Design. Kaia earned dual degrees, a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Product Design, from Stanford University and a Master of Landscape Architecture from the University of Colorado Denver.

A registered landscape architect, she is actively involved in several organizations including the Urban Land Institute (ULI) as the co-chair of the Colorado Business Development Committee and as a member of WLI (ULI's Women's Leadership Initiative) and in the Downtown Denver Partnership (DDP), as both an alumna of the Leadership Program and as a member of ongoing leadership committees.
