HDR Earns First Place for Large Workplaces in National Bike Challenge
(October 10, 2014) - HDR is the winner of the 2014 National Bike Challenge for large workplaces in the category of companies with more than 5,000 employees.
The National Bike Challenge is a nationwide event that unites current and new bicyclists. It encourages and challenges individuals to ride more while competing on a local, state and national level. The challenge took place from May 1 through September 30.
At HDR, 627 riders from offices across the country biked 203,451 miles for the challenge, which just wrapped up its third year. Overall, more than 47,000 riders across the country, pedaled more than 23 million miles.
Tori Pallas, HDR's corporate employee wellness manager, said an already blossoming bike culture within the business, bolstered by inter-office mini challenges and the company's focus on sustainability, helped HDR edge out the competition.
"We've always known cycling was prominent among our staff but the challenge has given us a base to build on with our wellness program," she said. Employees who voluntarily signed up for the challenge earned points in the company's wellness program.
