HDR Recognized by Practice Greenhealth as a Healthcare Champion for Change
(May 21, 2015) - Practice Greenhealth, a national membership organization for healthcare facilities committed to environmentally responsible operations and stewardship, presented its 2015 "Champion for Change" Award to HDR for outstanding environmental stewardship and protecting public health.
Practice Greenhealth honored its top performers at the Environmental Excellence Awards presentation on May 14, 2015 in Portland, Oregon, in conjunction with CleanMed, the premier national conference for leaders in environmentally sustainable healthcare. Lily Livingston, sustainable design project manager, Jean Hansen, sustainable interiors manager and Alex Setmajer, sustainability coordinator, accepted the award.
The Champion for Change Award recognizes businesses and organizations that demonstrate successful accomplishments in "greening" their own organizations, while also assisting their healthcare clients to expand their sustainable practices and improve their facilities' environmental performance, supplying healthcare products and services that are considerate of the earth and its resources.
"We're thrilled to be rewarded for our efforts by Practice Greenhealth and our peers," says HDR's Jean Hansen, sustainable interiors manager. "Always focused on greening our own operations, we use environmentally-friendly purchasing practices, reduce internal waste and track our Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions—something we have done since 2006. These initiatives contribute to reducing our carbon footprint and in greening the design of our own office environments. It's important to hold ourselves accountable by reporting on our successes and identifying opportunities where we can improve. That's why we consistently track our progress to ensure that we're essentially "walking the talk."
