Groundbreaking Low Phosphorus Demonstration Facility

Coeur d’Alene WWTP Low Phosphorus Demonstration Study

Nutrient removal mandates are pushing technology beyond established performance levels. To meet a TMDL-driven effluent total phosphorus limit of less than 0.050 mg/L, we and a utility partner designed and operated a demonstration facility testing three advanced technologies at the Coeur d'Alene Wastewater Treatment Facility in Idaho. Results uncovered design strategies to deliver consistent results, even under variable operating conditions, and to reduce the impact on ratepayers.
