We designed a functional multimodal bus terminal at Toronto's Kipling Subway Station. The project incorporated design of a commuter parking lot, a kiss-n-ride facility and pedestrian links to existing and future high-density mixed use development. Also included was the use of exclusive bus access, signal priority, and the ability to accommodate future rail and bus rapid transit links.
With the Toronto Transit Commission, City of Toronto, Mississauga Transit and GO Transit as key stakeholders, consensus-building was paramount to completion of a successful study. We determined the impacts of roadway closures on passengers and transit operations, and the impact on transit operating costs to ensure that all the stakeholders' concerns were addressed.
