Kosse Mine Power Delivery and Substation Design
Energy is a critical infrastructure component for mining operations. Ensuring the right amount of power is available during full operating capacity is critical to the long-term success of mine operations. In support of the Luminant Mining Company Kosse Mine in central Texas, HDR provided support to Luminant Mining for environmental siting, load studies and engineering design for a 13.5-mile, 138 kV transmission line between the Oak Grove Steam Electric Station and Phase I of the Kosse Mine. Services provided by HDR include substation design and support with equipment purchase and construction bidding of the transmission line and substation.
The transmission alignment follows the existing alignment of the HDR-designed railroad connection between Oak Grove and the Kosse Mine.
