Lewis and Clark Rural Water System Wellfield and Treatment Plant
Fifteen communities and seven rural water systems in southeastern South Dakota, southwestern Minnesota and northwestern Iowa formed the Lewis and Clark Rural Water System after identifying a lack of quality drinking water and a water supply insufficient for sustaining growth.
HDR assisted in preparing the final feasibility report and is responsible for providing the design expertise for the water treatment and well field portions of the project. In addition, HDR will also be assisting with the design of the distribution system.
When the construction phase of the project is completed in an estimated 10 to 12 years, the Lewis and Clark Rural Water System will enable the bulk delivery of nearly 30 million gallons per day of drinking water to 200,000 people in member communities in South Dakota, Iowa and Minnesota.
