MBTA Green Line Extension

The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) awarded the HDR/Gilbane Team, a joint venture between HDR and Gilbane Building Company, a program management/construction management assignment to extend the Green Line, one of the nation's oldest light rail lines. The extension will run from Boston to Medford, Mass.

HDR is working with the program management team to identify, quantify, control and monitor the potential cost and schedule risks of the project. This process facilitates a better estimate of project costs and schedule, development of mitigation strategies for all anticipated risks and threats, and transparency and integrity throughout the lifecycle of the project. To date, a cost-risk workshop has been held for the Green Line Extension program to identify and quantify the anticipated program risks and develop a likely cost and schedule to present to MBTA. Additionally, HDR is developing a risk management database to assist in monitoring the risks and their mitigation. As the program progresses, additional workshops and further discussions of mitigation strategies will be held.
