Nelune Comprehensive Cancer Centre and Australian Advanced Treatment Centre
This 151,000 SF (14,000 SM) comprehensive cancer center will house the Nelune Comprehensive Cancer Centre and the Australian Advanced Treatment Centre. The goal is to bring cancer care services currently spread across eight sites into one centralized building. The project includes radiotherapy treatment spaces, ambulatory care clinics, administration zones, staff amenity areas, and two floors dedicated to clinical trial clinics and inpatient facilities.
The project is set within a heritage precinct and is designed as a contemporary free-standing facility that reflects the rhythm, materiality and form of the neighboring buildings, while remaining wholly distinct. The building will facilitate new connections on the campus and create permeability throughout the site, providing spaces that will encourage people to socialize and enjoy the beauty of the historic campus.
The center will follow a patient-focused model of care that integrates cancer research, clinical care and education in a way that will ensure the best possible outcomes for patients. When complete in early 2016, the building will be a "one stop shop" for cancer care, enabling patients to receive continuous care in one state-of-the-art place.
