HDR natural resources experts are monitoring construction compliance activities of a new 300-mile, 500 kV transmission line that will link power grids in northern and southern Nevada. The One Nevada Transmission Line (ON Line) is located on public lands administered by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), extending from Ely, Nev. to the NV Energy Harry-Allen Substation in Las Vegas. The BLM issued a Final Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement for ON Line in December 2010.

Our approach was to set up a team of uniquely qualified, onsite experts to:

  • Identify natural resources to be monitored during construction
  • Determine project effects and guide any adjustments to ensure impacts stay below predefined thresholds
  • Support extensive documentation needs and establish a web-based information dissemination process to project stakeholders and rotating field staff

At HDR, we are committed to the highest level of safety for our staff, therefore health and safety plans are regularly evaluated and training executed. Highlights of the ON Line safety training include:

  • Safety bulletins regularly issued to field monitors tailored to the project's local issues
  • Daily field monitor safety meetings
  • Monthly webinars to discuss field topics from cold and heat stress to heavy equipment
  • Size: 500 kilovolt (kV)
  • Professional Services: Cultural Resources Analysis, Natural Resources Analysis, Permitting, Monitoring & Compliance
  • Related Projects: Power, Power Delivery
