Owner's Engineer for Whispering Willow and Bent Tree Wind Projects
New to the wind market, Alliant Energy sought to add renewable energy to its portfolio with a three-phase wind development effort. With price fluctuations for materials and a maze of complex tasks, keeping a project on schedule and within budget can be complicated.
As owner's engineer, we provided assistance during design, procurement and construction of the initial phases. We assisted Alliant during turbine micrositing, a needs study, engineering and regulatory reviews. This enabled Alliant to meet turbine setback requirements and understand access road layout needs, impacts to wetlands and utility conflicts.
We supported development of the major EPC work packages and contract negotiations and completed a comprehensive transportation plan that allows the turbine supplier to access all foundation areas safely and at minimal costs.
