Selenium Reduction Water Treatment Plant, Berry Branch
The right layout and site arrangements are critical decisions in the design phase to make building cost-effective and efficient, especially when it comes to building in a complex mountain environment.
As part of a design-build team, we were the design engineers for a water treatment plant at an active surface coal mining operation in the Appalachian mountains. This particular treatment plant technology serves to remove selenium from stormwater runoff. We performed site, structural, electrical, HVAC, civil and detailed design of facility piping. The design was completed in a way that allows room for expansion. The plant will enable the treatment of 800 gallons per minute of water.
