Smith Receives ACEC Nebraska Young Professional of the Year Award

John D. Smith, a transportation engineer in the Omaha office, is the winner of the 2015 Young Professional of the Year Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies/Nebraska. Smith was honored at the recent ACEC/N 2015 Engineering Excellence Awards.

The award recognizes accomplishments of Nebraska engineers under age 30 who have contributed to the engineering profession in Nebraska and made an impact on their communities.

Smith holds a bachelor of science in civil engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He is active in the ASCE Nebraska chapter, serving as the chapter’s Transportation Technical Committee chairman and Younger Member Group chairman. He was recently elected vice president and named the 2014 Outstanding ASCE Younger Member for
Region 7.

Smith’s name will be forwarded to the national competition for ACEC Young Professional of the Year.
