Amy Mays Elected IIDA New York’s Healthcare Forum Director

Amy Mays, interior design principal in HDR’s New York City office, has been elected to a two-year term as Healthcare Forum Director for the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) New York chapter. New leadership was confirmed at the June 25 IIDA New York Board of Directors induction ceremony.

Amy has served for three years as a volunteer of IIDA New York, which provides its more than 600 members with educational resources and networking opportunities. As a member volunteer, Amy has brought her passion and perspective to discussions and events covering patient-centered care, greening hospital interiors, and evidence-based design. As director she hopes to continue to provide a platform for designer, healthcare providers and manufacturers to discuss thought-provoking topics impacting the healthcare community.

Since joining HDR in 2013, Amy has been involved in major healthcare projects in the northeast, including Hartford Hospital Bone and Joint Institute in Hartford, Connecticut; Kaiser Permanente’s Re-imagining Ambulatory Design project; and a flood preparedness study for the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Manhattan, following Superstorm Sandy. She has also worked with leading healthcare organizations including Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, Columbia University Medical Center and The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

Amy replaces Renaldo Pesson on the board, and will be joined by Stephen Blau, Business Development for CFI, who replaces Sarah Todd as Healthcare Forum Co-Director.
