Thompson Rejoins HDR in New Sustainability Leadership Role

Marcella Thompson has rejoined HDR in a newly created leadership role as a business group sustainability director. In her new role, Thompson will develop and lead the sustainability plans within the mining, industrial, oil and gas, power and waste markets. She will serve on the Office of Sustainability leadership team and will be based in the Omaha, Nebraska, office.

Thompson has more than 15 years in the environmental and sustainability field. She comes to HDR after over seven years as the sustainability director for ConAgra Foods where she developed strategies and implemented programs to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, conserve energy and water, and eliminate waste. She also managed the company’s sustainability data - including greenhouse gas, water and waste metrics - to track progress against a holistic sustainability vision.

Previously at HDR, she was a senior environmental marketing coordinator from 2006 to 2008, coordinating business development activities for federal, state and private environmental compliance and engineering contracts.

She holds a bachelor of arts degree in economics and environmental studies from Emory University. She was recognized by the Midlands Business Journal 40 Under 40 in 2010.
