HDR Submits Proposal for New Global Headquarters to Omaha Planning Board
HDR, Inc. has submitted a proposal and renderings of its new global headquarters in downtown Omaha to the Omaha Planning Board for approval. The site of the new corporate headquarters is at 11th and Dodge streets.
Founded in 1917, the firm has been at its current location, 8400 Indian Hills Drive, since 1972. Last June, the firm announced plans to move to the downtown location in December 2018 upon the expiration of the lease on its current building in 2019 and because it has outgrown the office space and parking needs at the current location.
HDR Chairman and CEO George Little said, “We’re excited to move this process forward by submitting our proposal and renderings to the Omaha Planning Board and look forward to the months ahead when the construction and building process gets underway.
“We chose downtown Omaha for our new global headquarters because it will better meet the long-term needs of our employees, clients and business partners. We're excited about helping grow the downtown urban core, which will create energy and excitement for more visitors to Omaha, and this will create jobs and growth of our city.
This is the first time that the firm has shared renderings of the new building, which will contain approximately 290,000 square feet with 16 levels, including basement and roof, and parking.
The approval process starts at the Omaha Planning Board meeting on February 3 and will then go to the Omaha City Council.
HDR has selected Kiewit to provide preconstruction engineering and plans, and expects them to help through the construction process as well. The groundbreaking is estimated for early summer.
