HDR Delivers an Integrated Healthcare Precinct for Westmead

The Westmead region has over time evolved into an innovative, contemporary and integrated healthcare precinct hosting one of the country’s largest concentrations of biomedical, scientific and healthcare focused minds. As Principal Architect for the entire Westmead Precinct Redevelopment project, HDR played a major role — through master planning, architectural design and clinical planning — in transforming the Westmead campus. HDR is working with the Westmead Precinct Partners to create a vision for Westmead as a workable, liveable and accessible health city focused on integrated healthcare, teaching and research. Westmead will promote patient, carer and staff wellbeing and community engagement, while also attracting staff, students, residents, researchers and visitors from across the globe.

HDR is lauded for designing some of Australia’s leading health and education facilities, including the Sunshine Coast University and Liverpool hospitals, the multi-award winning Chris O’Brien Lifehouse and, more recently, the Westmead Health Precinct Redevelopment. World-renowned for being at the forefront of cutting-edge design and thinking, HDR consistently ranks high among design firms worldwide — including ranking first in Healthcare Design according to Building Design’s “World Architecture 100” survey for 2016. HDR designs and delivers more health, research and training facilities than any other architectural firm in the world.
