HDR Joins MITRE Engenuity’s Semiconductor Alliance, Brings Infrastructure Expertise
HDR has been invited to participate in The Semiconductor Alliance, a cross-industry alliance set up by MITRE Engenuity, MITRE’s tech foundation for public good. The Semiconductor Alliance is defining a strategic vision and implementation plan for U.S. government investments in semiconductor research and development, including a proposed National Semiconductor Technology Center.
The Semiconductor Alliance was formed to address semiconductor supply chain fragility and the security of the United States’ high-tech economy. This includes considering how to turn what could potentially be a $50 billion investment by the U.S. government into $150 billion of value. To achieve Alliance goals, representatives from industry, academia and government are working together to define a common purpose and strategic path forward that is meaningful for all.
Don Yeaman, principal, advanced technologies, represents HDR in the Alliance and plays an active role in the infrastructure subcommittee. The infrastructure subcommittee is helping to define the attributes and costs of the infrastructure required to support the mission of the NSTC.
“The global semiconductor shortage, the level of global competition facing the industry and an unprecedented investment from the federal government requires that the best minds come together to define the future,” said Steve Riojas, HDR education, science, and advanced technologies global director. “We are proud to be part of this effort. I have no doubt that Don will provide invaluable insight for the group going forward, leveraging both his own expertise and the semiconductor experience found throughout our global practice.”
Yeaman is well suited to this role given the portfolio of semiconductor work he has developed over the last 30 years. He has extensive experience with manufacturing management and process tool selection and installations, facilities programming, conceptual design, and industrial engineering.
