HDR’s New Sydney Design Studio Brings Collaboration, Agility & Sustainability to Forefront of Workplace Design
HDR has designed a new 1,050-square metre office in Sydney’s iconic 25 Martin Place building to bring its architects, engineers, interior designers and sustainability experts under one roof and further strengthen its multi-disciplinary offering.
Designed and delivered by HDR’s industry-leading architecture and building design services team who now inhabit the space, the Sydney Design Studio is a physical representation of HDR’s brand and culture, and a place where talented people can gather to drive innovation and new ways of thinking about the built environment.
In HDR’s Sydney office, breakout spaces, wellness rooms, parent facilities and high-quality lighting put staff wellbeing high on the agenda while low volatile organic compound products, sustainable materials, services design and repurposed furniture deliver on HDR’s sustainability commitments. In addition to the meeting rooms, meeting nooks, quiet rooms, wellness room and 103 workstations, the hospitality-inspired ‘business hub’ further places collaboration, agility and community at its heart.
In recognition of the office’s innovative design and commitment to sustainability, the Gold WELL-standard Studio has been named a Finalist in the Dulux Colour Awards in the Commercial Interior’s Workplace and Retail Category for its use of colour to differentiate collaboration space from formal work zones.
“Our new office symbolises yet another huge step forward," said HDR’s Managing Principal of Architecture Cate Cowlishaw. "We are immensely proud of the depth of talent we have assembled, a team that is committed to producing provocative and compelling design and engineering that inspires people and improves the human condition.”
“Working together to design our new Gold WELL standard office underscores our unique approach to sustainability and the opportunities for us to better serve our clients," said HDR’s Managing Director of Building Engineering Services Garry Wall.
