Betty Dehoney, CEP, PMP, ENV SP
Director, Environmental - Water
As a principal environmental planner for HDR, Betty’s roles and responsibilities vary widely. On any given day, she may be working with the engineering and environmental teams to provide creative solutions to streamline the environmental review process, leading the delivery of large-scale complex infrastructure environmental documents, bringing together the right “ologists” to provide legally defensible analyses, and mentoring our next generation of environmental scientists and planners.
The environmental regulatory process is not a straight line. There are lots of guidance manuals for how to address one regulation, but it gets a bit complicated when faced with a project that has 20 different regulations, often with conflicting processes. That is where Betty’s experience navigating those processes comes into play.
Betty is well recognized throughout the environmental profession. She is the Vice President of the National Association of Environmental Professionals (NAEP), serves on the Academy of Board Certified Environmental Professionals (ABCEP) certification review board and Association of Environmental Professionals' (AEP) legislative review committee, and has received numerous awards and recognitions for her outstanding environmental documents, including an Outstanding Contribution to the Environmental Profession award by AEP. Betty has taught undergraduate and certification classes at the University of San Diego and University of California, San Diego.
