Senior Interior Designer William Dahl Joins HDR in Vancouver

William Dahl, RID, NCIDQ, LEED ID&C, has joined HDR as a senior interior designer supporting a diverse range of projects, from civic and education spaces to large healthcare projects such as the recently awarded new St. Paul’s Hospital. As a self-described “lifelong learner” with over 22 years of experience, Dahl focuses on elevating the relationship between people and the spaces they occupy. He is well known for his ability to mentor and lead, with a talent for building colleagues’ competencies.
With a background in science, Dahl is driven by facts, data and a better understanding of how digital tools can help us to better document and communicate project designs. He is especially passionate about the impacts of nature on human responses and is constantly exploring ways to embrace biomimicry and natural materials within the built environment.
“I am excited about the opportunities that HDR affords to address the challenges of climate change and the possibilities for bringing about incredibly positive changes in society,” Dahl said. “If any firm can impact climate change, I see HDR as having that profound opportunity.”
Before joining HDR, Dahl was a senior interior designer with Ratio Architecture, Interior Design + Planning and with Perkins + Will Architects. He is a member of the Interior Design Institute of British Columbia and serves as the committee chair for the Climate Action and Innovation Committee.
