Henderson and Genesee CSO Reduction

We led a team to evaluate the 15 Henderson and Genesee Basins that contained combined sewer overflow outfalls exceeding an average of one untreated discharge per year. We developed alternatives that included green and gray solutions, and designed and provided services during construction for many of the selected upgrades. We provided permitting, environmental services, and public outreach support for the project. Over 55 permits were obtained. We also attended and facilitated over a dozen open houses, small residential meetings, and stakeholder briefings. The Genesee tanks and roadway drainage and water quality facilities are currently in operation.

Key Project Characteristics:

  • Alternatives analysis on 120 CSO reduction alternatives using Triple Bottom Line
  • Provided permitting, environmental services, and public outreach support for the project
  • Alternatives considered increasing conveyance, transferring flows, storage facilities, wet-weather treatment, stormwater separation, Inflow & Infiltration reduction, and Green Stormwater Infrastructure
