Senior Health Planner
Children's Services Leader
Brian is an architect with a focus on the planning and design of children's hospitals. As a senior health planner, he connects with healthcare clients by combining the design-thinking mindset of an architect with the understanding of a healthcare planner. With more than 15 years of experience in healthcare design, Brian has become a unique hybrid of designer, project architect and planner. Brian understands the programmatic complexities found in healthcare and possesses the ability to bring new ideas and processes to the table, creating healing environments for children and their families during difficult times in their lives.
Brian’s specialty — and passion — is pediatric health, particularly planning for the needs of this special patient population and their caregivers. He currently serves as HDR’s Children’s Services Leader, integrating flexible, family-centred, planning solutions to support the continuum of care for patients.
Brian’s willingness to embrace technology and be an early adopter of new methods in the industry brings an innovative level of design to client and user group meetings during initial phases of the design process. He quickly transformed into the expert for pediatric healthcare, spearheading the pediatric program at HDR. His project experience ranges from small NICU renovations to new, world-class children's hospitals. He has worked with clients across the United States and Canada.
Being a father of three naturally makes Brian’s work designing healing spaces for children more gratifying. He feels privileged to create environments that help children and their families during some of their toughest times.
