HDR Featured in Texas Mining and Reclamation Association Magazine
HDR is featured on the cover and in three articles of the Fall 2015 issue of the Texas Mining and Reclamation Association magazine, TXMining.
HDR’s mining practice, which recently moved up three places to No. 5 by Engineering News-Record, is front and center in the magazine, starting with the cover, “Innovation in Mining: HDR Pushes the Boundaries.”
Up first is an article, "HDR Transforms Section 404 Permitting," by Matt Tanner, coal market practice leader, and John Wooten, environmental project manager. All coal mines must simultaneously fulfill the Clean Water Act, Section 404, and Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act of 1977 requirements. The authors offer insights to the process and approach to Section 404 permits.
"Careers in Texas Mining” features profiles of Tanner and Wooten discussing their careers in mining.
“Re-Defining Waters of the United States: What the 2015 Clean Water Rule Means for Surface Mining Operators" is by James Thomas, section manager environmental sciences. In the article, Thomas discusses the background behind the change to the new rule and its implications.
