This article by our Senior Transportation Planner Dan Haake explores the data models used by three states to select transportation infrastructure investments. Not surprisingly, all three models include traditional roadway metrics. But each state's process also builds in metrics for the impacts infrastructure will have on the economy and community. "Although the impetus for each state's performance-based, data-driven project development processes were different," Haake writes, "the implementation of these processes by Minnesota, Kentucky and Ohio shared many commonalities."
