Addressing Hawaiian Electric Co.'s Aging Infrastructure

HECO has nearly 1,300 transmission structures located on various terrains spanning the island of Oahu. Over half of its transmission structures have been in service for more than 40 years and require replacement. To replace the aging infrastructure, HECO has to address environmental, cultural and right of way challenges.
