HDR’s Forecast-Informed Reservoir Operations Highlighted in Municipal Water Leader
Risk of flooding and water supply are the main issues facing managers of dams and reservoirs, especially in the Western United States. Reservoirs must hold enough water to face scarcity while, at the same time, maintain enough empty space in case of massive storm flows. Not too long ago, these issues were handled by following an inflexible schedule based on historical weather patterns. However, advances in forecast-informed decisions now allow reservoir managers to operate reservoirs with greater flexibility.
In this interview with Municipal Water Leader, David Ford and Mike McMahon talk about how HDR is helping clients across the U.S. with forecast-informed decisions and the latest developments in the field.
