Iowa Public Television Tells the Story of Mount Trashmore Trails and Overlook
Mount Trashmore Trails and Overlook is a repurposed landfill transformed into a scenic overlook at the highest point in Linn County, Iowa. The concept was born after the landfill’s final closure following devastating historic floods faced by the community in 2008.
We designed the space for our longtime client, Cedar Papids Linn County Solid Waste Agency, to include a pavilion with terraced seating, a viewing deck, picnic areas and benches surrounded by an 18-acre pollinator zone. Trails for hikers and bicyclists welcome community recreation.
