New Franklin County Jail will Seek to Modify Inmates' Behavior
HDR’s design of the new Franklin County Jail will positively impact the individuals who will enter its doors and create a safer community. The plan is to replace both the downtown and Jackson Pike jails and their 2,330 beds with one 2,800-bed facility. The first of three phases of the West Side jail will cost at least $161.8 million. Phase two will add 1,332 beds. Phase three will add 600. The forensic-science center is expected to cost $27.3 million and open in 2019.
