2nd International Correctional Research Symposium
HDR thought leaders Greg Cook and Dave Redemske will focus their presentation titled "Providing Healthcare in the Prison Environment: What Services Belong Behind Bars and What Services Belong in the Community Setting," on the challenges of providing correctional healthcare and the many care environments available. They will analyze the findings of a systematic review of the literature which shows there is no “one-size-fits-all” answer to the question of where is the best location to provide care for inmates. However, there are a number of questions that correctional systems should investigate when determining where correctional healthcare should be provided.
Under the title "What is Good Prison Research?” the Symposium aims to elaborate on questions, such as:
- Bridging the gap - how do we build trust and cooperation between the academic community and Prison Services?
- What are the challenges and difficulties of prison and post-prison research?
- Leaving prison and beyond - how do we best integrate 'desistance' research with prisons research
