Garth Highland Joins HDR Consulting Group as Data Scientist
Garth Highland has joined HDR as a data scientist for the Predictive Analytics team, based in the Omaha, Nebraska, office.
Highland comes to HDR with experience researching cost and quality in healthcare systems, design and analysis of experiments in agriculture, agriculture consulting, animal health and wildlife biology. As a statistical researcher at the Health Care Incentives Improvement Institute, he developed models for predicting total cost of care, potentially avoidable complications and risk adjustment. At Adams Land and Cattle Company, he developed and managed cattle-sorting algorithms and discovered and implemented new methodology for sorting cattle by hip height.
In his new position, Highland will conduct data analyses and extract and convey meaning from those analyses for clients in healthcare, education, architecture and engineering. His arrival marks further expansion of data-driven design at HDR and will help advance the practice toward the future.
“Garth’s eclectic background will be a great addition to our consulting group,” said Scott Foral, director of Consulting. “His experience and eagerness to work within the intersection of analytics and the designed environment will bring a valuable and fresh perspective to the team.”
A graduate of Kansas State University, Highland earned both a bachelor's degree in business and financial management and a master's degree in statistics at the university.
