Amy Mays Elected as President of IIDA’s New York Chapter
Amy Mays, IIDA, interior design practice leader in HDR’s New York, New York architecture studio, has been elected as president of the International Interior Design Association’s New York chapter. The professional networking and educational association for the interior design community comprises more than 800 members.
Over the next year, Mays plans to focus on new member initiatives to reach beyond those who are already established in the design industry. She would like to focus the chapter’s outreach on students as early as middle school so they are exposed to — and inspired by — the profession at a young age.
Mays has been a volunteer for the organization for the past three years, most recently serving as the president-elect. In addition to her role as president, she is currently the co-director of the chapter’s Healthcare Forum.
“Leading such devoted individuals this next year is going to be really exciting,” she said. “We have a very strong community, and it can be a great way to meet others in the industry. You really get the most out of being a member if you get involved.”
