Bakke Named HDR’s Biogas Practice Lead

Brian Bakke

Brian Bakke has been named HDR’s biogas practice lead for water. He will be HDR’s point of contact for biogas opportunities to expand the firm’s business in this area.

Bakke currently serves as water marketing manager in Des Moines, Iowa. He has led HDR’s client development efforts in Iowa for more than six years. In addition to his client development responsibilities, Bakke will work collaboratively with the biogas practice group and other client development leads to help clients maximize the benefits of biogas recovery and utilization.

He will also collaborate with other HDR experts to drive wastewater, solid waste and industrial biogas opportunities.

A professional engineer, Bakke is skilled in wastewater treatment, including assessing existing wastewater facilities utilizing cogeneration systems. He has led projects that implemented cogeneration systems and assessed other biogas uses at facilities throughout the Midwest and across HDR.

Bakke holds a bachelor's degree in biological systems engineering and a master's degree in environmental engineering, both from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

That’s especially important given the value of cellulosic biofuels in EPA’s Renewable Fuel Standard,” said Dave Clark, wastewater sector director. “Brian understands how to work with the firms that broker the energy credits and track the regulatory compliance requirements for our clients.”
