Mark Henderson, AIA, has joined HDR’s Houston, Texas office as health principal where he will work with HDR’s team of designers and planners to serve healthcare clients throughout the South Central U.S.

Henderson comes to HDR from Dewberry where he was a healthcare principal and market segment leader. Previously he spent time with AECOM and HOK Architects. With 27 years of experience in architecture and design, Henderson will add a depth of industry knowledge and a unique vision of the future of healthcare to HDR’s global practice.

“My passion is in serving the healthcare industry with creative, insightful ideas that solve the root problems centered on the changing patterns of human and organizational behavior,” Henderson said. “HDR’s work reflects a shift in thinking and approach — to think not about the building first but the organizational culture that influences daily behaviors, decisions and priorities. I am humbled by this opportunity to join the HDR health team.”

Henderson’s expertise and intuition toward business development will contribute to HDR’s reputation for quality design, innovative planning, thorough client service and thought leadership in healthcare projects locally in Texas and throughout the region.

“Mark’s body of work shows an innovative approach to creating environments that are human-centered and participate in the healing process,” said Hank Adams, AIA, EDAC, FACHA, global director of health at HDR. “We’re excited to embrace his strategic style in the South Central region and usher in a new approach to healthcare delivery.”
