HDR-designed Peña Station NEXT was selected as a finalist in Fast Company’s World Changing Ideas Awards, Urban Design Category. Now in their second year, the awards honor businesses, policies, projects and concepts that offer innovative solutions to the issues facing humanity. Pena Station Next offers an unusual approach to creating a transit-oriented community that inspires healthy living.
Peña Station NEXT is a new 400-acre transit-oriented suburban community in northeast Denver, one of the fastest growing regions of the country. Near the Denver International Airport and located on Denver’s new commuter rail transit line, Peña Station NEXT is a ‘smart city’ development with community wellness at its core. To help realize this vision, experts in technology, health, development and design all contributed their perspective.
