Mark Sungaila has joined HDR as a senior solid waste project manager in the Richmond Hill, Ontario, office. Sungaila’s primary role will be to focus on growing the solid waste practice in Canada. He comes to HDR from SLR Consulting (Canada) Ltd where he served as a principal engineer.

A registered professional engineer, Sungaila has more than 30 years serving as a solid waste consultant for clients in Canada and around the world. His areas of expertise include conceptual and detailed design of waste management facilities, permitting, operational plans, engineering and construction oversight, and closure. He’s also experienced in overseeing remediation at contaminated sites, and mining waste management.

Sungaila holds a bachelor’s degree in geo-engineering and a master’s degree in civil engineering, both from the University of Toronto.

Larry Fedec, solid waste program lead at HDR in Canada, said, “Mark’s expertise and experience will support our continued growth in Canada’s solid waste facilities design and engineering market, and add another level of depth to our team. We’re excited by the contributions Mark will make as we support existing clients, and look to support new and innovative solid waste infrastructure development.”
