Two Landscape Architecture Leaders Join HDR’s Denver Architecture Studio
Anthony (Tony) Mazzeo, site design principal, and Kent Freed, RLA, AIA, senior landscape architect, have joined HDR’s Denver architecture studio as leaders of its landscape architecture department.
Previously owners of PLOT Project, LLC, in Denver, they have more than 50 years of combined experience in the Denver market. Notable projects have included a freight garden and landscapes at the TAXI development in Denver’s River North Art District; a mixed-use office building streetscape and rain gardens in Castle Rock, Colorado; a green roof at Colorado State University in Pueblo, Colorado; and the new Aerospace Engineering Sciences facility at the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado.
Mazzeo and Freed said they are committed to offering personal, integrated design services to the Denver community and the Rocky Mountain region, and that they are looking forward to working in the Denver studio — and throughout the company.
One of the big draws to joining the Denver group is its size, they said. It’s big enough to work on significant projects, but is still small enough to have the hands-on approach that the duo is used to.
“We welcome Tony and Kent to our studio, where their work and design talent will continue to foster collaboration, drive innovative solutions and diversify the professional services that we provide our clients while being good stewards of the environment, said Julianne Scherer, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP BD+C, IPMA-D, managing principal.
